Bhubaneswar: Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is known for taking sly digs at anyone and everyone in the film industry. But this time, he drew flak from the people of Odisha for his ignorant remarks on the state.
Varma was recently on headline for casting Odisha-born newcomer Apsara Rani in his upcoming project ‘Thriller’. While praising Odisha-born newcomer, the director took to Twitter and wrote:
Before meeting Apsara,I dint even hear about Orissa since the 1999 hurricane..but after meeting her now ,I realised that Orissa creates all kinds of hurricanes..it’s been a great revelation that Orissa has such beauties ..MORE POWER TO ORISSA @apsara_rani_ pic.twitter.com/v8MStRM5ab

Soon after this, Social media users from Odisha as well as outside slammed the filmmaker in the comment sections for his ‘poor knowledge’.
