Nepal’s main opposition party supports update in new political map


Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress, country’s main Opposition party, has extended support to Prime Minister KP Oli’s move to provide constitutional accord to new map.

Observers maintained this is likely to worsen Nepal’s strained ties with India. The new map delineates Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani under its territory.

The Nepali Congress has decided to vote in favour of the Constitution amendment bill put forth by the government in Parliament to update the new political map of the country.

Nepal approved a “new map” featuring parts of Indian territory. This has invited wrath from India. The Nepal cabinet endorsed the new political map showing Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani under its territory, amidst a border dispute with India.
