New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) members who unanimously passed a resolution electing him as its leader.
There will be another meeting of NDA MPs on June 7 to officially elect Modi as the PM candidate and the leader of the alliance. Later they shall go to the President to submit their letters of support, said the HAM secular leader Jitan Ram Manjhi after attending the meeting.
TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, LJP(R) leader Chirag Paswan and NCP leader Praful Patel were among those who attended the meeting.
They met at Modi’s residence the day following the NDA’s Lok Sabha election victory, which secured a majority of seats. This triumph set the stage for Modi to be sworn in for an unprecedented third consecutive term, a feat not achieved by any ruling coalition since 1962.
In the meeting, all parties expressed their faith in Modi’s leadership. They commended PM Modi for elevating India’s global stature and his initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation, pledging to carry forward this commendable work. Modi’s allies praised his distinct vision for a “Developed India” and affirmed their partnership in realizing this objective.
The meeting concluded with a resolution stating that the NDA government will persist in its efforts to enhance the living standards of the masses, promoting holistic national development while preserving its rich heritage.
“We are all proud that the NDA fought the 2024 Lok Sabha polls unitedly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and won. We all NDA leaders unanimously elect Narendra Modi as our leader,” it added.
