New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled a clandestine methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory in the Gautam Budh Nagar district near Delhi.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Delhi Police Special Cell, has revealed connections to the notorious Mexican drug cartel, Cartel De Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG).
Acting on a tip-off, NCB officials raided the facility located in the Kasana Industrial Area on October 25, 2024. During the raid, authorities seized approximately 95 kilograms of methamphetamine in both solid and liquid forms, along with a variety of chemicals and imported machinery used in the drug’s production.
Four individuals were arrested at the scene, including a Mumbai-based chemist and a warden from Tihar Jail. The NCB is also on the lookout for a Mexican national believed to be a member of CJNG, who was allegedly involved in testing the purity of the drugs.
NCB Deputy Director General Gyaneshwar Singh stated, “This operation has uncovered a sophisticated network involving both local and international elements. The involvement of the CJNG cartel highlights the global reach of these criminal organizations and their attempts to establish a foothold in India.”
