Naveen urges officials to protect Similipal as forest fire subsides

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday reviewed the situation relating to the forest fire in Similipal National Park.

Patnaik said Similipal is not only the treasure of Odisha but of India and directed the authorities to take measures for the protection of the precious forest resources.

Forest & Environment ACS Mona Sharma said that the blaze has been brought under control. She said no lives were lost and the fire has not affected large trees. Sharma said, PCCF Wildlife is monitoring the situation at the spot.

Sharma said the DFO has been directed to inform District Collector and the government on the latest situation by evening and added that SOP has been issued on the matter.

The review meeting was attended by CM’s 5T Secretary V K Pandian and senior forest officials.
