Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter remembering former CM of Odisha Janaki Ballav Patnaik on his birthday anniversary.
“Tribute to former Odisha Chief Minister and former Assam Governor Janaki Ballabh Patnaik. His invaluable contribution to the progress of the state in the field of Odia literature and journalism is always remembered,” Naveen said.

In 1967, Janaki Ballav Patnaik unsuccessfully contested as an independent candidate from the Dharamsala Assembly seat and then he joined the Congress.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1971. Nine years later, in 1980, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi chose him as the chief minister of Odisha. He remained the CM until 1989, and formed the government again between 1995 and 1999.
