Naveen inaugurates 4 newly-constructed buildings at Rama Devi Women’s University

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated four newly-constructed buildings at Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha CM dedicated the newly-built academic block, library and hostel  building of the women’s varsity built at a cost of Rs 33 crores.

Adressing the students, Naveen said that this is first time he was meeting students after COVID crisis. He extended wishes to the students and also expressed extreme pleasure for coming to Odisha’s first women’s university.

The Chief Minister announced that Rs 18 crore will be spent for renovation of academic building, hostel  building and open air stage of the varsity. He added that efforts are underway for overall development of the  Rama Devi Women’s University.

Speaking on the occasionNaveen said, “This is a unique institute in the sense that it’s the first and only university in Odisha till now, dedicated to women’s education. It carries the vision of Maa Ramadevi for the education and empowerment of women in Odisha. Therefore, its responsibility is also unique.  How you go ahead with your opportunities, and how you face the challenges that come in your way will define the future of this university.  I believe; you are bustling with your talent and courage to redefine the prestige and dignity of your institute to make it one of the best institutes in the country.

Students are the future of society and harbinger of change.  As students, you have a responsibility for yourself, for your parents   and also for your motherland. You must endeavour to excel in your studies and   concentrate on your career.

Your knowledge will guide you, inspire you throughout your life. Knowledge is the Real Capital for a student. Every student must invest sincerely in it. It will continue to give you seamless returns all through your life. You also have a responsibility for your parents.  Serve them. And try to fulfill their wish. Their blessings will keep you smiling forever.

Women today are leading society everywhere.  From business and industry to sports, defence and economy, women are everywhere to lead the world and guide society. Vice President of United States Kamala Harris, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, IMF Chief Economist Geeta Gopinathan, Biocon Founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Missile woman of India Tessy Thomas, Olympian PV Sindhu…. and the list continues.

They all have one thing in common. That is their sheer self-confidence. They trust and respect their own talent and never ever get swayed by the difficulties that have come in their way.”

I am sure all of you will succeed in life, and make a name for yourself in the field of your choice.  Never ever think that you are second to anybody.  Always believe that you are the best that has happened to this world.  Go ahead with all your dreams, all your energy and make sure, the world is yours.  Transform society with your talents,” the Odisha CM concluded.

State Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, joined the event as the guest of honour and shed light on Honb’le Chief Minister’s efforts towards higher education and women empowerment.

Present on the occasion were MLA Ananta Kumar Jena, Vice Chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University Prof Aparajita Chaudhury. Varsity’s Registrar Smt Shamali Mahapatra delivered the welcome address and Deputy Registrar delivered the vote of thanks.
