Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday flagged off the 11th special pilgrimage train for senior citizens at Bhubaneswar railway station here.
In the 11th edition of the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana (BNTYY), the train carrying 1000 senior citizens from Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts started the journey to Kolkata in West Bengal and Kamakhya in Assam.
The CM congratulated the senior citizens and wished them a happy journey. On the other hand, the senior citizens thanked the CM for fulfilling their long-pending wish of going on a pilgrimage.
The senior citizens shared their excitement for being part of the pilgrimage. “Naveen Babu has fulfilled our dream. Our joy knew no bounds,” said Basanti Bedwa of Kendrapara, adding Naveen Babu always does a lot of things for the poor people of the state.
Gangadhar Das of Jagatsinghpur and Narendra Mishra of Cuttack also expressed their happiness for the journey.
Worth mention here that the Odisha government had started the pilgrimage trip in 2016. Till the date as many as 11,000 senior citizens have visited various religious places.
