Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday directed party MLAs to be punctual in attending state Assembly proceedings.
Addressing the meeting, Naveen welcomed all the members of his party and said the session is an important one as the Supplementary Budget would be passed. Some important bills would also be taken up during the session, he added.
He further stated: “I would like all the members to be punctual and sincere in attending the house. Anyone who needs more than 2-day leave will get it sanctioned from me. I am very serious about members attendance this time.”
He also urged that the members should actively participate in debates. I would particularly be watching the performance of first time members. We would encourage constructive criticism by the opposition and would be ready to discuss any issue in the floor of the house, he added.
This apart, Naveen said, Biju Janata Dal legislative party should use technology to monitor members’ attendance and their healthy participation in the house. People of Odisha are our masters and every minute we are in office we should utilise to serve them wholeheartedly,Patnaik said. The mandate in Patkura and Bijepur Bye-elections is again a reminder of how much faith people have in Biju Janata Dal. This should make all of us to work hard in a transparent and committed manner for the people of our State.
“Every day by 11.30 a.m. Government Chief Whip would submit a report to me on members attendance in the house. You all know that MPs are submitting Bi-monthly activity report to me. Similarly we would have an MLAs report submitted Bi-monthly to me. To suggest and frame the reporting format and contents, a Committee is formed with the following members: Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Usha Devi, Amar Prasad Satpathy, Kishore Mohanty”, he further stated.
The Committee will submit its report within 10 days, he concluded.
