Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today disbursed Rs 33.03 crore to 1,65,131 farmers of Puri district for the Rabi Season 2021-22 under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
Under the package, an amount of Rs 2,000 each will be deposited directly in the bank accounts of farmers.
On September 11, the Chief Minister had disbursed Rs 742.58 crore as assistance for Rabi Crop to 37,12,914 small and marginal farmers. However, farmers in the Puri district could not be provided with assistance because of the Pipili by-election.
Earlier in June this year, the state government had announced Rs 1,690 crore COVID-19 assistance package for landless farmers, construction workers, NREGS workers, particularly vulnerable tribal groups, SC/ST students and physically handicapped students. Under the package, all 17.89 lakh landless farmers in the state received special assistance of Rs 1,000 each. Besides, Rs 207 crore was given to landless farmers, who had not receive their third instalment under the KALIA scheme.
The Chief Minister has implemented the KALIA scheme to provide assistance to small, marginal, and landless farming families in the state in agricultural work. This is a landmark step for the welfare of farmers.
