Naveen directs officials to develop infrastructure in Konark to world-class

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the officials to get the positive feedback for the draft proposal of the Konark area development project. Patnaik said that Konarak area will be developed with world-class infrastructure.

The PWD wing has said the draft proposal for this has been floated in the public for 21 days for the feedback from the public on the matter. The Odisha government, after declaring to build Puri as the heritage city, has been trying its best to develop infrastructure of Konark area of international standard.

The Sun Temple at Konark bears the architectural marvel of Langula Narasingh Dev, the king of Ganga Dynasty, in the 13 Century. This has been attracting visitors all over the world for its excellence.

Although the Sun Temple is in a dilapidated state, the façade of the temple and other statues chiselled on its wall describe the architectural prowess of Odia artisans.

The UNESCO has included the Sun Temple in the heritage list in 1984 and it is our responsibility to preserve its essence.

Under the 5T initiative of the government, it has been decided that the ring road will be expanded up to six km and it will be of six-lane. The thirty-acre land in front of the Sun Temple will be developed for the construction of entry plaza and landscaping. A multi-modal hub will also be developed for parking of vehicles.

The review meeting was attended by 5T Secretary V K Pandian, Minister Tushar Kanti Behera, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and other high-level officials.
