Naveen congratulates DRDO on successful test firing of Prithvi-II missile

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on the successful test-firing of surface-to-surface Prithvi-II missile.

The Odisha CM took to his social media handle and wrote, “Congratulate @DRDO_India on the successful test firing of surface-to-surface #Prithvi-II missile.”

India on Wednesday successfully test-fired the DRDO-developed, nuclear-capable Prithvi II missile off the coast of Odisha in Balasore.

ITE sources have informed that the 350 km range missile designed for quick manoeuvrability and wartime efficiency missile could be used as a tactical battlefield weapon. Although it has a range of 350 kms with a 500 kg warhead the payload could be increased to 1000 kg.

Prithvi is one of the five missiles under various stages of development as part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).
