Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the passing away of veteran Hockey player Michael Kindo today at Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela.
In a message, the Chief Minister has said that Shri Kindo was an iconic player whose contribution to the global hockey would never be forgotten. He has made our country, our state proud with his stellar performance in world cups. It’s the players like him who are the inspiration behind our recognition in the field of hockey.
The Chief Minister has conveyed his deep sympathy for the bereaved family members.

Legendary hockey player Michael Kindo breathed his last at Ispat General Hospital (IGH), Rourkela today. He was 76. Kindo was unwell for the past several days and was admitted to the IGH. However, he breathed his last today at around 3:15 PM.
Kindo had represented India in the 1972 Summer Olympics and won the bronze medal. He was a member of the Indian Hockey team that won the World Cup in 1975. He was also conferred with the Arjuna Award for his achievements. He represented the Odisha Hockey team and won awards after joining the RSP.
