Naveen Buys Ticket For Inaugural Ceremony Of Men’s Hockey World Cup


Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday bought the first ticket for the extravagant inaugural ceremony of Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018.

Hockey India CEO Elena Norman met the Odisha CM at the State Secretariat here and presented a token ticket. Patnaik also paid Rs 500 for the ticket.

The Hockey India on Sunday announced the date of ticket sale on its official Twitter handle. The tickets for the grand opening event at Kalinga Stadium here on November 27 and Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on November 28 will be sold online from 12 pm on November 20.

According to sources, around 12,000 tickets would be sold for the inaugural ceremony in Bhubaneswar and 30,000 tickets for the November 28 event.

Music maestro AR Rahman will be performing at both at the Opening Ceremony on November 27 and at the World Cup Celebrations event on November 28. However, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will only grace the inaugural ceremony in Bhubaneswar.

The online redemption of the tickets for the opening ceremony will be from 22nd November 2018, from 3:00 PM IST, at Gate 4 of the Kalinga Athletics Stadium along with other locations throughout the city.

Fans can choose redemption centres from multiple locations/ counters in Cuttack while booking their tickets for the World Cup Celebrations event. The date for online redemption of the tickets for the World Cup Celebration event will be announced in due course.

Hockey India reiterated that tickets can only be purchased online at the following link of the ticket agency and will not be available for sale over the counter.
