Nandankanan Registers 1563 Visitors On First Day Of Reopening

Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar registered 1563 visitors on Tuesday, on the first day of reopening after being shut for months due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Reportedly, the first group of visitors was from the neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh.

As per reports, at least 1375 animal lovers visited the zoo, while 188 people went to the botanical garden. Most of the visitors are spotted from other states including, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Karnataka (Mysore).

Moreover, authorities of the zoo said steps have been taken to ensure that COVID Appropriate Behaviour is followed by all concerned, including visitors to check the spread of the virus. The authorities have also restricted the entry of people of the age under 10 and more than 65.

Earlier, authorities had closed the zoo and the botanical garden for visitors with effect from May 1 and later extended the closure. During the period, sanitization drive was being carried out inside the zoo to prevent transmission of the virus.
