NALCO fire mishap: Death toll rises to 2


Angul: The death toll in National Aluminium Company (NALCO) fire mishap rose to two after another critically injured person undergoing treatment at a private hospital succumbed today.

The deceased was identified as Rajanikant Parida of Kangula Bentapur village in Angul district.

Notably, on August 1, Mithun Nath, who was a contractual worker at the PSU and a resident of Patanasahi village, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in New Delhi.

The tragic incident occurred on July 23 after a flashover in high-voltage panel board of Smelter Casthouse-B caught fire in the plant. As a result, four persons, including two students and a woman, suffered burn injuries.

They were immediately rescued and admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack. Later, Mithun was shifted to a hospital in New Delhi after his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
