Musician Sumanta Mohanty Murder Case: Accused Held After 12 Years

Bhubaneswar: One of the prime accused of music director Sumanta Mohanty murder case has been arrested by the Commissionerate Police.

Reportedly, the accused was tracked and apprehended after nearly 12 years.

Notably, in 2008, the body of the 35-year-old Sumanta was found stuffed inside the dicky of a Maruti car in a canal. The body was recovered naked, full of deep cuts and wrapped in a bed-sheet neatly arranged inside the dicky of the Maruti car.

Four persons –Manas Ranjan Vedanta, Sushil Samantray, Sushil Jena and Subhakant Jena were arrested immediately arrested for their connection to the crime.

Police said the accused killed Sumanta after inviting him to participate in a puja committee programme in Bomikhal area.

Sumanta and Manas were classmates in Sangeeta Mahavidyalaya and the murder was in the sequel to an old enmity between them.
