Bhubaneswar: Muktikant Biswal, who had walked for 71 days covering more than 1,500 km in his attempt to meet PM Narendra Modi, has been named by the Congress as its candidate from Rourkela assembly seat for the upcoming polls.
The 31-year-old man, Biswal had carried with him the National Flag and a big hoarding to remind PM Modi of his promise to upgrade the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela into a super speciality hospital.
He claimed that PM Modi had promised to upgrade the hospital into a super speciality facility and medical college, during his visit to the Steel City after becoming the Prime Minister.
However, Biswal had failed to meet PM Modi upon his arrival in the national capital.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) today released its second list of candidates for two Lok Sabha and 54 Assembly constituencies for ensuing polls in Odisha, where it named Muktikant Biswal as its candidate from Rourkela assembly seat.
