Mukteswar Dance Festival kicks off in Bhubaneswar, audience enthralled

Bhubaneswar: The annual Mukteswar Dance Festival, organised by the Odisha Tourism Department, kicked off at the Mukteswar Temple in Bhubaneswar from Monday evening.

The festival was declared open with Odisha Tourism’s Commissioner-cum-secretary Vishal Kumar Dev lighting the lamp.

The first performance showcased a chorus ‘Shiva Vandana’ performed by Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre (GKCM ORC) from Bhubaneswar followed by Surupa Sen solo Odissi performance.

Dancers Rajiv Bhattacharya and Subikash Mukherjee from Kolkata mesmerised the audience with their Odissi duet performance. The pair enacted scenes from the Mahabharata.

In the end, the Odissi group performance by Pravat Kumar Swain and group (Nrutya Naibedya) demonstrated grace, energy, and synchronisation.

The three-day festival features one solo performance followed by a duet and ends with a group presentation every evening.

The annual Mukteswar Dance Festival will conclude on January 16.
