Mountaineer Kalpana Das’s body retrieved, to reach Bhubaneswar soon


Bhubaneswar: The body of Odisha mountaineer Kalpana Das was retrieved and brought to the Base Camp-4 of Mount Everest yesterday.

While the Nepali Sherpa located the body and brought it to the base camp, the mortal remains will be sent to Kathmandu today.

The body will be brought to Bhubaneswar from Kathmandu.

Odisha Sports Department also informed that the three-member team who left for Kathmandu will soon bring the body back to the state.

Earlier, the Secretary of Odisha Sports Department has written a letter to the Indian Embassy in Nepal in this regard.

Notably, Kalpana died while descending the Mt. Everest on May 23. Kalpana, who was a member of the ‘Three Women Expedition’ locally managed by Dreamers Destination Treks died near the balcony area while descending from the summit point.
