Nabarangpur: The Forest department personnel have rescued a female bear and her two cubs from Sanakumuli village under Sadar block in the district.
According to reports, the bear had gave birth to two cubs in a mud pit dug by a villager near the village to install biogas mechanism. However, the villagers were in a state of panic since a couple of days after the bear was spotted roaming near the human settlement in search of food.
The villagers then approached the forest department to drive the bear away from the village.
In compliance with the direction of Divisional Forest Officer Ranjit Kumar Mallick, a team finally managed to trap the mother bear after hours of ordeal and later rescued the cubs from the pit.
Reportedly, the mother bear and her cubs have been released into the wild after health check-up at Papadahandi deer park.
