More rains in store, ‘Red Warning’ alert for 7 Odisha districts
Bhubaneswar: The depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to concentrate into a Deep Depression which would trigger very rainfall across Odisha, the Regional Meteorological Centre said on Thursday.
The Met has issued ‘Red Warning’ for Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayaga, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Koraput districts with prediction of extreme heavy rainfall.
Besides, ‘orange warning’ has been issued for 14 districts– Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur.
After the system turns into a deep depression, it would cross Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts between Kalingapatnam & Paradip close to Puri during late night of 20th and early morning of 21st September.
Squally wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is very likely along and off West Bengal, Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh Coasts during next 12 hours. It will gradually increase becoming 55-65 kmph gusting 75 kmph from 20th September afternoon for subsequent 12 hours.
State of sea will be rough to very rough over North Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha, West Bengal and north Andhra Pradesh Coasts during next the 36 hours. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the seas.
