Monsoon to arrive early in Kerala: IMD
Kochi: The southwest monsoon has covered most parts of Sri Lanka and is all set to arrive in Kerala within the next couple of days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a statement on Friday that “conditions are likely to become favourable for the onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala around May 31.”
IMD scientists said the very severe Cyclonic Yaas, which ravaged Odisha and West Bengal coasts on Wednesday, helped strengthen monsoon winds.
The IMD has forecast below normal rainfall in Kerala till June 3.
Normally, monsoon arrives in Kerala around June 1 and covers the rest of India by mid-July.
