Monsoon arrives in Odisha, depression to trigger heavy rainfall

Bhubaneswar: The south-west monsoon arrived in Odisha today triggering moderate to heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.

“The south-west monsoon entered Odisha today and set in some parts of coastal districts of the state,” said Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

The monsoon has so far covered some parts of the districts like Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore after making steady advance, he said.

Arrival of monsoon coupled with the impact of a deep depression which crossed Bangladesh coast, is likely to trigger rain and thundershower in many places in northern part of the state and at a few places in southern part in the next 24 hours.
