‘Mo Beach’ cleanliness drive underway near Sanskrit University in Puri

Puri: The Puri district administration’s ‘Mo Beach’ campaign to keep the shoreline clean and beautiful is currently being carried out near Sanskrit University.

The district administration along with local communities, civil society organisations, volunteers and gram panchayats (under whose jurisdictions the beaches are located) are participating in the drive.

The district administration has roped in globally famed sand sculptor Sudarsan Patnaik as the brand ambassador of the ‘Mo Beach’ cleaning campaign.  The artist also shared pictures from the campaign on his Twitter handle.

The ‘Mo Beach’ cleaning campaign, launched on June 27, came close on heels of the Blue Flag certification, accorded to Puri beach. The tag is given to environment-friendly and clean beaches which are equipped with amenities of international standards for tourists.

The Puri beach in the state of Odisha will be the first beach in Asia to get the Blue Flag certification.
