MLA Pradeep Panigrahi expelled from BJD

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal MLA Pradeep Panigrahi has been expelled from the conch party on Sunday.

As per available information, Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi has also been dismissed from the primary membership of the party for his “anti-people activities”.

Reportedly,  IFS officer Abhay Pathak and son Akash Pathak are spending hours in jail cell in Bhubaneswar.

The father-son duo was produced before the Special Vigilance Court, which rejected their bail plea and remanded them to judicial custody for 14 days at the Jharpada Special Jail here.

The two have been arrested by the Vigilance for allegedly amassing assets worth crores disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Abhay was posted as Additional PCCF, Plan Programme and Afforestation since June 2, 2018. His son had donated Rs  5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in April allegedly posing as MD of Tata Motor’s Transport Division. Following a complaint from Tata Motors, Crime Branch is investigating him too.

Tension mounted on MLA Pradeep Panigrahi as the wedding of Panigrahi’s daughter and Akash Pathak had been fixed and the date for it had been scheduled in December.

A high profile wedding had been planned to be held at the Taz Lake Palace of Udaipur in Rajasthan. Even Rs. 20 lakh had been paid as advance for this lavish wedding.
