Missing minor girl rescued from Kalahandi village


Kandhamal: A minor girl missing since January 8 has been rescued by Tumudibandha police from Gundurupi village in Kalahandi district on Monday.

The matter came to light after the minor’s family member lodged a complaint with the police.

According to police, the minor girl of Malipara area under Tumudibandha police limits in Kandhamal district had gone to meet her sister admitted at Dumudibandha community health centre.  After meeting her sister, she had gone to nearby Ambedkar square to buy sweets but did not return home.

After a frantic search, the family members of the minor girl were unable to trace her and lodged a complaint with police.

Based on inputs, a police team led by inspector-in-charge Baba Sankar Saraf reached Gundurupi village in Kalahandi district and rescued the girl.

The girl has been handed over to the childline officials and her family members have been informed.

While no arrest has been made till now, further probe into the matter is underway, sources in police said.
