Miscreants loot shop at gunpoint in Cuttack, one held

Cuttack: Police arrested a person for allegedly looting a shop at gunpoint in Khannagar area of Cuttack city on Monday. The accused was identified as Biswajit Das (39) of Tamando area in Khurda district.

According to reports, the incident took place on Monday at around 3 pm when a businessman, identified as Shiba Behera of Khannagar area, went to have lunch, while his relative was there in the store.

In the meanwhile, a white SUV halted in front of his shop and some persons entered the shop. As there were no customers, they brandished guns and looted money from the cash counter along with mobile phones.

When opposed, the miscreants thrashed Shiba’s relative before fleeing the spot. Later, Shiba lodged a complaint in this regard in Madhupatna police station.

On the basis of the complaint, the police reached the spot and inspected the CCTV footage. Following an initial probe, police managed nabbed one of the accused, sources said and added that the other persons involved in the loot are yet to be arrested.
