Malkangiri: Police have arrested a man for allegedly attempting to evade the borders of three states amid lockdown in Odisha by raming the barricades with a speeding SUV.
The arrestee has been identified as Hanuman Mohit, a resident of Sultanpur of Amaravati district in Maharashtra. He was shifted to Jagadalpur for treatment.
As per reports, Hanuman tried to evade three states including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, by hitting police personnel and breaking nine barricades with the four-wheeler bearing registration no. MH27 DA 6332.
Later, Odisha border officials and Inzaram police of Chhattisgarh along with the Fandiguda based CRF Battalion-228 managed to stop the vehicle at Fandiguda by opening firing on him. Following this, the driver of the Scorpio sustained an injury on his back.
However, the actual motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
