Minor girl from Odisha sold to Rajasthan man, rescued

Boudh: A minor girl from Odisha, who was sold to a man in Rajasthan, has been rescued by the police from Balda village in Rajasthan on Saturday.

According to sources, the victim was involved in a love affair with Bimal Sethi of Digi Village in Boudh district. On May 30, Sethi took the girl from her residence on the pretext of marriage following which the couple stayed at Sindal village in Sonepur district for a night.

Next morning, they along with another girl went to Bolangir railway station and boarded a train to Rajasthan. On reaching, Sethi sold the minor girl to one, Dilip Singh of Balda village for Rs 1.5 lakh.

However, the victim with the help of one Pintu Choudhary escaped and later narrated her ordeal to her brother on August 3 over a phone call.

Later, the family members of the minor girl informed Manmunda police of Boudh district about the incident.

Acting on the complaint, a team of 7-police personnel went to Rajasthan on August 4. The cops rescued the victim after 70 days from Allahbad, where Pintu was on his way with the girl to Bhubaneswar.

A case has been registered against the accused regarding the incident and a manhunt has been launched to nab him, sources said.
