Minor girl from Odisha sold in Haryana: Jharsuguda police nabs two
Jharsuguda: Taking note of the torture of a minor girl from Odisha in Bhiwani area of Haryana, Jharsuguda police on Saturday arrested two persons from Brajarajnagar here.
The arrested duo was identified as the uncle of the minor girl, Tankadhar and Ajay Ganjari, who happens to be their neighbour.
Reportedly, two teams including family members of the minor girl and the officials of district child protection unit left for to Bhiwani, last night to the bring back the victim.
According to reports, the girl who belonged to Brajarajnagar area of Jharsuguda district was allegedly sold by her uncle six months ago for Rs 2 lakh to one Sandeep of Bhiwani area.
Sandeep had forcibly married and kept her in confinement. He had been raping the girl for the last two months. In a bid to escape, the girl jumped off from the first floor of the building and sustained injuries.
Some neighbours who spotted her rescued her in a critical condition and admitted her to a hospital in Hisar. Later, Haryana police arrested Sandeep and his mother Sakuntala, in this connection.
