Bhubaneswar: A minor boy died after being swept away in an open drain near Unit 3 Masjid colony in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
As per reports, the boy fell inside the open drain while trying to fetch a balloon floating on the water.
The ODRAF team launched a rescue operation and after two hours of ordeal, the boy was found from the canal near Laxmisagar Oscar City and rushed to the Capital Hospital. But, the doctors declared the child dead.
Expressing deep grief over the minor boy’s death in the open drain mishap, State Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the bereaved family.
