Migrants Flee From Shramik Special Train By Pulling Alarm Chain, 7 Held

Angul: Several migrants returning to Odisha on a Shramik Special train from Ahmedabad reportedly alighted from the train by pulling the alarm chain near Angul and fled the spot.

The incident took place this evening near Majhika in Angul district when some unruly migrants stopped the train by pulling the alarm chain and jumped out to escape.

“Many managed to flee, but locals apprehended some of the violators. Later, they were handed over to the police,” said sources.

As many as seven persons have been detained and sent to an institutional quarantine facility in the district. Besides, a manhunt is underway to nab the other violators, informed Angul SP.

While reports of migrants escaping from quarantine centres are surfacing, the people have come out with a new way to evade mandatory quarantine of 21 days. The government has made strict guidelines for returnees to follow after reaching Odisha, but unruly behaviour by some migrants has become a matter of serious concern.
