Migrant labourers from Odisha stranded in Dubai, seek help to return
Nayagarh: As many as 10 migrant workers from Odisha, who have been stranded in Dubai, made an emotional plea to the authorities here on social media to help them return home.
Among the labourers, two hail from Kurdangi village under Godipada police limits in Nayagarh district of the state.
According to sources, the labourers had gone to Dubai for work a few months ago. However, after months of work, they were not provided with the salary as promised earlier. Unable to come back, the victims have shared a video to their family members.
The plight was brought to the attention through a video, which was uploaded on the social media platform.
In the video, the men narrated how they are been tortured by the company and alleged that they are not provided with the salary as promised. The video also shows the workers desperation about the situation. They also levelled allegations that they are being forced by the agent to work overtime without being paid any dues.
After receiving the video, family members of the migrant labourer have alleged that they have been stranded due to non-payment of salaries. They also alleged that the agent has tortured them, sources said.
Through the video, the labourers have urged the district administration to rescue them from the harsh working conditions and bring them back to the native places.
