Koraput: A migrant labourer from Odisha has been missing in Andhra Pradesh since one and a half years after he went to the neighbouring state to earn his livelihood.
According to reports, Surya Jani, who hails from Rengalguda village under Borigumma block of Koraput district, along with fellow villagers had gone to neighbouring Andra Pradesh in the search of job in 2016.
While other persons, who had gone with Jani had already returned to the village after a few months, he did not come to his home. When Jani’s wife Asumati inquired about the whereabouts of her husband, the fellow labourers said that he had left them a few days after they reached AP.
Asumati had also tried to contact her husband over the phone, but in vain. The anxious family then moved to B Singhpur police station and filed a written complaint in this regard.
Although three months have passed since lodging of the complaint, no action has been taken to trace the missing Jani, it was alleged.
When contacted, the district labour officer said no such case has been reported to them. Action will be taken accordingly if a complaint would be registered in this regard.
Meanwhile, the residents have urged the administration to bring Jani back to the village.
