Bhubaneswar: The maximum day temperature soared to 40 °C or above at as many as 19 places in Odisha, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Wednesday.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, the day temperature breached the 43 °C mark in as many as six places. Sonepur was again the hottest place in the state today with 44.5 °C followed by Bolangir at 44 °C, Jharsuguda at 43 °C, Sundargarh at 43 °C, Titilagarh at 43 °C, and Boudh at 43 °C.
The maximum day temperature in Sambalpur was recorded at 42.4 °C, followed by Angul at 42.1 °C, Bhawanipatna at 41.5 °C, Nuapada at 41.5 °C, Talcher at 41.4 °C and Hirakud at 41 °C. Besides, the mercury rose to 40 °C or above in Paralakhemundi (40.8 °C)Keonjhar (40.6°C), Bargarh (40.6 °C), Baripada (40.4 °C), Bhadrak (40. 5°C), Nayagarh (40 °C) and Malkangiri (40 °C).
The day temperature in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was recorded at 37.1 °C and 37 °C today.

In its evening forecast, the IMD regional centre here said that there will be no large change in maximum temperature during the next 24 hours and temperature will fall by about 2-3 °C in the subsequent 2 days over the districts of Odisha.
Again Maximum Day temperature is likely to gradually rise by 2-3 °C from 24th April in the state. The temperature will be more than 40 °C at many places and likely to be above normal by 3 to 4 °C at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 24 hours, the Met centre said.
The weatherman has advised taking precautionary measures for hot weather conditions while going outside from midday 12-3 PM.
