Mercury Rises In Odisha; 15 Places Record 40 Degrees Or Above

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will experience a rise in temperature from today. The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued yellow warning for Balangir and Sonepur districts. Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail for next three days in six districts of the state Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi.

As many as 15 places in Odisha recorded maximum 40 degrees or more on Monday.

As per IMD data, Titlagarh was the hottest at 42.2 degrees followed by Baripada which recorded 42 degrees Celcius.

Bolangir recorded 41.5 degrees while, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda, shared a common maximum (daytime) temperature of 41.2 degrees on Monday.

The other places which recorded high daytime temperatures today are:

  • Angul: 41.1 degrees;
  • Hirakud: 41.1 degrees;
  • Malkangiri: 41 degrees;
  • Bhawanipatna: 40.8 degrees;
  • Bhubaneswar: 40.5 degrees;
  • Talcher: 40.3 degrees;
  • Nayagarh: 40.3 degrees;
  • Boudh: 40 degrees;
  • Balasore: 40 degrees; and
  • Cuttack: 40 degrees.

The maximum temperature is expected to rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in most parts of the state, informed the Regional Meteorological Department.
