Mercury Breaches 40 °C Mark In Twin Cities, Angul Hottest With 43.7 °C

Bhubaneswar: The maximum day temperature soared to 40 °C or above at as many as 21 places in Odisha, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Sunday.

For the first time this year, the day temperature breached the 40 °C mark in the twin cities. While Bhubaneswar recorded 40.2 °C, the temperature rose to 40.5 °C in Cuttack.

As per the latest IMD bulletin, Angul recorded the highest maximum day temperature of 43.7 °C followed by Bolangir at 43.2 °C, Boudh at 42 °C, Sundargarh at 42 °C, Dhenkanal at 42 °C.

Besides, the maximum day temperature at Jharsuguda was recorded at 41.8 °C followed by Titilagarh at 41.7 °C, Sonepur at 41.6 °C, Sambalpur at 41.3 °C, Baripada at 42 °C, Bhawanipatna at 41 °C, and Keonjhar 41 °C, Hirakud 40.7 °C, Kendrapara 40.5 °C, Nayagarh 40.5 °C, Bhadrak 40 °C, Jajpur 40 °C, Deogarh 40 °C, and Nuapada 40 °C today.

In its evening forecast, the IMD regional centre here said that there will be no large change in maximum temperature during the next 5 days over the districts of Odisha.

Maximum Day temperature will be more than 40 °C at many places and likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 °C at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days, the Met centre said.

The weatherman has advised taking precautionary measures for hot weather conditions while going outside from midday 12-3 PM.
