Memorial Of Covid Warriors To Come Up In Bhubaneswar: CM Naveen

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said a memorial of Covid Warriors will be built in Bhubaneswar as a mark of their contribution to fighting dreaded coronavirus.

Interacting with the families of Covid Warriors through video conferencing on Thursday, Patnaik said their sacrifice will not go in vain and added that their names will be mentioned in the memorial.

The Chief Minister said the nation will always remember the sacrifice of Covid Warriors and added that the government is with the families of the Covid Warriors.

The Chief Minister said over 100 Covid Warriors have sacrificed their lives in the fight with coronavirus and added that the government will do everything possible for the wellbeing of their families.

The Chief Minister interacted with the families of Malkangiri, Cuttack, Bargarh, Balasore and Ganjam. Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said the leadership of Chief Minister has provided the strength to manage the influx of nearly 10 lakh migrant Odias into the state during the peak period of coronavirus.

Additional Chief Secretary P K Mohapatra said Odisha has successfully handled the Covid crisis and added that 101 Covid Warriors have sacrificed their lives for the people of Odisha. He said till date 96 families of Covid Warriors have given compensation worth Rs 50 lakh and added that the rest five families will be provided with the assistance in a couple of days.

A video documentary of the service and sacrifice of Covid Warriors was displayed during the programme. The programme was attended by Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and other senior officials. It was moderated by Chief Minister’s 5T Secretary V K Pandian.
