Medicine Stores In Twin City Raided To Check Black Marketing Of Masks, Hand Sanitizers


Bhubaneswar: In order to put a check on hoarding and profiteering from the sale of Masks and hand sanitizers, Commissionerate Police today carried out extensive raids in medicine stores across the Twin City of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.

The cops also asked the druggists to refrain from illegal hoarding & profiteering from the sale of masks and hand sanitizers as these have been declared as essential commodities by the government. They also warned them of legal actions if anyone is found flouting the norms.

The raids were carried out in medicine stores in Twin City in compliance with the direction of Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi.

It may be mentioned here that the Centre has declared masks, hand sanitizers, and gloves as Essential Commodities till June 30. This was done to boost supply and prevent the hoarding of these items in its fight to check the spread of the deadly COVID-19.

The Centre has also invoked the Disaster Management Act to ensure price regulation and availability of surgical and protective masks, hand sanitizer and gloves.
