New Delhi: Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday informed that India has received a diplomatic note from Dhaka protesting the recent comments made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the Bangladeshi students’ quota protests, which have resulted in over 100 fatalities.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated that the conduct of foreign affairs is the exclusive domain of the Centre.

“We have received a diplomatic note, a communication from the Bangladesh side protesting the comments made by the West Bengal CM. It aligns with the descriptions in the reports,” Jaiswal stated during the weekly press briefing on Thursday.
He emphasized that, according to the 7th Schedule, List 1 – Union List, Item 10, of the Indian Constitution, the conduct of foreign affairs and all matters that bring the Union into relation with any foreign country are the exclusive prerogative of the Union government.
Earlier in the week, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that her administration would offer shelter to individuals from Bangladesh who are seeking refuge amid the ongoing protests in the country.
