Agartala: India batter and Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal is out of danger and will be discharged from the Agartala hospital on Wednesday, a day after he was admitted on Tuesday following an in-flight health scare. Mayank felt irritation in his throat and had swelling on his lips after drinking a ‘poisonous liquid’ before the flight took off from the Tripura capital.
Karnataka team manager Ramesh said Mayank Agarwal would land in Bengaluru in the afternoon and added that the cricketer wouldn’t be able to speak for the next 48 hours due to “ulcers and swelling”.
Mayank Agarwal was rushed to a private hospital after he was de-boarded from a Delhi-bound Indigo flight in Agartala. The hospital, in the evening, released a statement saying Mayank was clinically stable and was being monitored further in the hospital.
Mayank Agarwal also filed a police complaint in Agartala, alleging foul play after he drank the ‘poisonous’ liquid after settling down in his seat.
Mayank was en route to Surat for Karnataka’s next Ranji Trophy 2024 match when he had to be de-boarded. The skipper led Karnataka to a hard-fought victory over Tripura in Agartala, chipping in with the bat in the Elite Group C game.
