Maoists hold huge ‘Praja Meli’ in Malkangiri


Malkangiri: Marking the beginning of the Martyr’s Week, Maoists held a massive ‘Praja Meli’ (public meeting) in Andarapalli village in Chitrakonda of Malkangiri district today.

As per sources, the members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) held a rally near the Martyr’s Memorial Pillar in the memory of cadre Meena, who was killed in a police encounter.

The left-wing extremists organised a ‘Praja Meli’ in a bid to mobilise public support for the Martyr’s Week being observed in the state from January 25-31. Addressing the crowd the Maoist leaders, warned the locals against turning into police informers.

Besides, Maoist posters have also surfaced in several parts of Umerkote in Nabarangpur district today.

The rebels have put up posters in Kurtamgarh of Kandhamal and Chandahandi ghatti. The outlawed outfit has urged the people to observe Martyrs’ week from today.
