Maoist camp busted in Nuapada forest, explosives seized

Nuapada: A Maoist camp has been busted in Kataphara forest under Boden police limits in Nuapada district by the Special Operations Group (SOG), the police said.

The security forces’ personnel have also recovered explosives and several other articles used by the rebels. However, the rebels had fled from the spot by then.

Acting on a tip-off about the movement of Maoists in the forest, six teams of SOG jawans led by Nuapada SP launched a massive combing operation on February 1.

After intensive combing operations, the security personnel unearthed a Maoist camp on February 3, belonging to the Mainpur-Nuapada Division.

During the search, five tiffin bombs, three UPS batteries, 2 kg gun powder, electrical wires, uniforms, red flag and many other articles were seized from the spot. It is suspected that the busted camp was used for training by the CPI (Maoist), police officials informed.
