York, England: A 23-year-old man has been arrested by the police for throwing eggs at King Charles and Queen Consort, Camilla, during a visit to York.

The accused, a University of York student, was arrested under the charge of disturbing public order.

The incident occurred on the second day of an official royal visit to Yorkshire, during which the King and Queen Consort later travelled to Doncaster.

While the student was apprehended, people in the crowd started chanting “God save the King” and “shame on you” at the demonstrator.

King Charles III was formally proclaimed the King of Britain in the first televised Accession Council on September 10 at St James’s Palace in London following the demise of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II – Britain’s longest-serving monarch.
