Man shot at over past enmity in Sambalpur; accused detained


Sambalpur: A 30-year-old man sustained injuries after being shot at over past enmity at Budharaja daily market in Sambalpur today. The victim has been identified as Mantu Podha, a vegetable seller.

According to reports, Mantu recued a bullet injury on his left leg after Siria Jena (45), of the locality opened fire at him on broad daylight.

While the victim has been admitted to the Sadar hospital, Ainthapalli police have detained Jena for interrogation.

Sources said the murderous attack was a fall out of past enmity as Mantu had slapped the accused for harassing a girl, a month ago.

In order to vent his anger, Jena arrived at the market on a bike and tried to shoot Mantu in full public view. However, the latter had a narrow escape after the bullet hit his leg.
