Bhadrak: A Special POSCO court here handed down 10 years jail term and Rs 40000 fine to an accused for kidnapping and raping of a minor at Balichaturi village in the district.

The accused has been identified as Nabaghana Mallik(33) s/o Abhimanyu Mallik of Balichaturi village under Tihidi police station.

Additional Judge Pranati Saha has booked him under sections 366(A) and 363 and pronounced the judgment.

It was alleged that Nabaghana established physical relationship with the minor girl at Hyderabad by giving her false promises of marriage.

After a week, Nabaghana persuaded the girl to board a train to Bhadrak with him and left her at the station. The minor girl, later with the help of her relatives approached Nabaghana’s family members to accept her as their daughter-in-law. But, they refused to accept her as a daughter-in-law and threatened with dire consequences.

The following day the minor girl registered a complaint with Tihidi police station in this connection. On the basis of the complaint, Nabaghana was arrested by the police in a month. Special public prosecutor Manoranjan Das was fighting the case on behalf of the minor girl.
