Man held for extorting money by posing as Tehsildar in Bargarh


Bargarh: Police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly extorting money from a tractor owner by impersonating as a Tehsildar at Adapani village in Bargarh district on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Prithviraj.

According to sources, Prithviraj, had allegedly extorted Rs 23,000 from a tractor owner in May this year by introducing himself as the Tehsildar of Jharabandha.

After realising that he has been cheated, the tractor owner lodged a complaint against Prithviraj at Jagdalpur police station.

Based on the complaint, the police nabbed the accused and registered a case against him. Besides, the cops also seized a country-made pistol from his possession, informed sources.
