Bhubaneswar: A recorded criminal instilled fear at a Ganesh Puja Mandap within the Badagada police jurisdiction in Bhubaneswar, wielding a sword.
He openly brandished the sword and threatened to hack people to death, leaving at least four people injured.
On 14th September 2024, Chintu Mohanty, a habitual offender with having series of criminal cases and previously booked under the National Security Act (NSA), intentionally attacked four persons after Ganesh Pooja, creating chaos in the locality.
During the incident, he and his gang threatened the victims by brandishing a sword, assaulted them, and snatched a gold chain along with Rs. 18,000 in cash.
A criminal case has been registered under Badagada Police Station limits vide Badagada PS Case No.612/2024 and the accused has been apprehended. The weapons have been seized, and the accused will be forwarded to court today.
