Khurda: A man was hacked to death by his friend on the suspicion of his having an illicit relationship with the latter’s wife. The incident has been from Talasahi of Sanamota village under Jankia police station limits in Khurda district
The deceased has been identified as Akshaya Samantara alias Raghunath Maharana (46). The deceased’s wife has alleged that Akshaya’s friend and business partner, Tutu Barik, killed her husband suspecting him of having an illicit relationship with his wife.
According to the family members, Akshaya and Tutu had opened a Dhaba at Godipada Chhak on the side of National Highway No. 16. Gradually, the relationship between the two families became closer.
However, both Tutu and Akshaya had an argument yesterday afternoon on the suspicion that deceased Akshay had an illicit relationship with Tutu’s wife. The family members alleged that Tutu called Akshay to the roof late at night and brutally hacked him to death.
On intimation, Jankia police station along with a scientific team reached the spot and started an investigation.
The accused Tutu Barik is absconding after the incident and efforts are on to nab him, Khurda SDPO Sushil Kumar Mishra informed.
